CBN Young Dragon Awards: Meet the candidates in the Trading and Manufacturing category

As votes continue to arrive in great numbers, Members of the public have until 26 November to support their preferred candidates and vote for the young entrepreneurs and professionals under the age of 40 who will be awarded as part of the newly established CBN Young Dragon Awards.

The Awards Ceremony will be taking place in Nicosia on 2 December and attendance is by invitation only.

With three finalists in each award category have selected and announced by the Awards Committee, the public can, for a few more days, still continue to cast their vote and shape the final result, contributing to and decisively determining the selection of each category's awardee. The public's vote will count on a 50%-50% scale with the Award Committee's vote.

The three finalists in the Trading and Manufacturing (retail trade, wholesale trade, manufacturing) award category, as selected by the Awards Committee, are:

Maria Constantinides Theocharides

Company: Harco Ltd

Position: Commercial Manager

Constantinides joined Harco in 2012 contributing to significant growth and commercial success. Amongst others she assisted in shifting Harco’s retail distribution model from an outsourcing distributor to a direct one, and building an in-house commercial department. This strategic change has strengthened the Harco's relationships with key retail players and improved overall market presence. Working collaboratively, they developed new products in carefully chosen categories such as Elite Care baby wipes and Elite Care adult diapers and pants. Lastly, the company’s brands strengthened in a very competitive environment after the redesign of product packaging, quality communication and last but not least product value proposition. The new strategy of the commercial department and through the support from all family members, Harco has seen remarkable growth, with sales tripling over the past five years.

Michalis Petrou serves as the Commercial Manager at Petrou Bros Dairy Products, a family-owned business. As part of his duties, he oversees the company's Export Department, focusing on the continuous development and international promotion of traditional Cypriot products to 40 countries keeping the leading position of the company in Halloumi cheese production and export. Leveraging his market foresight and expertise, Michalis has significantly increased halloumi exports and facilitated the development and introduction of new products, expanding the company's product catalogue to more than 300 items. His contribution to the launch of Alambra Fresh Cypriot Milk, Natural Juices, Milk Alternatives and the wide range of cheeses was also decisive. Additionally, he played an important role in establishing and guiding the sales team, which has become an integral part of the company, aligning closely with its culture and objectives. The CBN Young Dragon Awards will honour professionals/executives under the age of 40 who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership and commitment to making a positive impact on their companies.

One person will receive the Dragon Award for each category, starting a new or renewed business and career path.

This year's awards ceremony is presented by Cyta Business and also supported by Punin Group and ECOMMBX, proudly highlighting the value and importance of the institution.

Those members of the public who wish to participate in the voting can only vote for one candidate per category, while you do not have to choose a candidate in all categories for your vote to be valid. You can vote via the same IP address only once.
