Bounced cheques in Cyprus drop in November

A total of 16 bounced cheques worth €21,445 were recorded in November 2024, according to data released by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).
Nine individuals and entities were added to the preliminary list of the Central Information Registry (CIR) for issuers of uncovered cheques, comprising seven legal entities and two individuals.
In comparison, 33 cheques worth €60,851 were recorded in November 2023, while in October 2024, 20 cheques amounting to €40,847 were registered.
Between January and November 2024, 268 uncovered cheques with a total value of €554,970 were registered in the CIR's preliminary list. This marks a decline compared to the same period in 2023, when 313 cheques worth €1.6 million were recorded.
In November 2024, six entities were added to the CIR’s final list. These included three legal entities, and three individuals associated with legal entities.
Over the first 11 months of 2024, a total of 185 individuals and entities were added to the CIR, down from 249 during the same period in 2023.
