The MoU sets out a framework for cooperation in the fields of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, Data Science, AI and Cybersecurity, while providing for the active participation of Wargaming Cyprus in the Department’s industrial partners’ programme. The broader objective of the MoU is for the contracting parties to share expertise and high-level technology, so that they can strengthen their strategic role in today's ever-evolving IT industry.

The memorandum provides for closer cooperation on various levels such as student internships, student assignments on issues of mutual interest, participation in research programmes and joint knowledge-transfer activities, as well as development and provision of elective courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Professor Anna Philippou stated that establishing meaningful relations with the real economy, industry and the labour market is a key priority for the University of Cyprus. The Department of Computer Science actively seeks out and maintains close ties with the industry, in a bid to share specialised knowledge and expertise and, of course, train graduates who are able to respond to emerging market trends and demands.

Valentinos Polykarpou pointed out that “this collaboration reaffirms our dedication to nurturing talent and fostering strong ties between academia and industry. Through this partnership, we aim to equip students with practical skills, expose them to real-world challenges, and provide them with unique opportunities for growth and development. We are excited to embark on this journey of knowledge exchange and we look forward to a successful and impactful collaboration".
