UCITS under the spotlight at 9th International Funds Summit & Expo

The first day of the 9th International Funds Summit & Expo included a ‘Fireside Chat’ with Eva Mykolenko, Associate Chief Counsel, Investment Company Institute (ICI), USA and Clea Evagorou, Partner, Risk Advisory Leader, Deloitte Cyprus, who was the moderator.

Mykolenko’s presentation was on topics including Undertaking for collective investment in transferable securities (UCITS).

Among other topics, Evagorou also asked Mykolenko about the costs and charges for investors, which had become a focus of European regulators.

Mykolenko said that this was why it was important to dispel myths on this issue, pointing out that costs had actually fallen in a number of categories, not only when compared to 2013 costs but also as recently as 2022.

She also underlined the importance of transparency and for care to be taken to ensure that new measures did not stifle competition or limit access to services.

The 9th International Funds Summit & Expo welcomes leading fund managers and fund administration specialists from across the world to discuss the evolving regulatory and increasingly competitive landscape in the global asset management sector.
