Cyprus Institute student awarded full scholarship by the Tsavliris Cultural Foundation and Ancoria Insurance

Asimina Kourouni, an MSc student in Digital Cultural Heritage (DCH) at The Cyprus Institute has been awarded a full scholarship, jointly provided by the Tsavliris Cultural Foundation and Ancoria Insurance.

The scholarship was awarded at a special ceremony held at The Cyprus Institute’s premises on 23 October, and attended by CyI President Prof. Stavros Malas, Head of Graduate School, Dr. Chrysanthia Leontiou, and representatives from the Tsavliris Cultural Foundation and Ancoria Insurance.

Kourouni commenced her Master’s degree program in Digital Cultural Heritage in the Fall Semester of 2023. She graduated from the Technological Institute of Athens in 2004 as a conservator of antiquities and works of art. She has eleven years of experience as a conservator working with ceramic, glass, porcelain, metal, and stone objects, antiquities, and mosaics. She has also worked in various museums and archaeological sites in Athens and at the T.A.P. Institute (now renamed Hellenic Organisation of Cultural Resources Development (H.O.C.RE.D.), creating genuine gypsum copies of statues and vessels.

As noted in a relevant press release, the Tsavliris Cultural Foundation and Ancoria Insurance Scholarships Program is a partnership between the two organisations for promoting and supporting education.

The vision of the Tsavliris Cultural Foundation is to support and promote artistic creativity for a better, spiritual and humane society, focusing on culture and shipping. The Foundation has already given a number of graduate scholarships to students in Cyprus Universities.

Ancoria Insurance is a Life Insurance company that specialises in financial planning through life insurance policies for individuals and occupational pension schemes for corporations. The Scholarship Program is part of Ancoria Insurance Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, and complements the mission of its main shareholder, the Sievert Larsson Scholarship Foundation, in supporting education. The Sievert Larsson Scholarship Foundation purpose is to facilitate the education of high-calibre students that have exhibited excellence through their academic achievements and has so far granted thousands of scholarships globally.
