Its objective, among others, is to train and upskill 1,500 seafarers, shipping professionals, and port workers in new fuels, digital awareness, marine environmental awareness, and soft skills.
Supported by Lloyd's Register Foundation, the project will be implemented over a 5-year period under the coordination of HELMEPA - Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association.

According to HELMEPA: “Our new project METAVASEA supported by Lloyd’s Register Foundation will provide a snapshot of maritime decarbonisation infrastructure in Greece and Cyprus and will train, upskill, reskill seafarers, port workers, shipping professionals and administrators in new fuels, digital awareness, marine environmental awareness, and soft skills.”
