Lidl Cyprus participates in largest Nicosia clean-up

This year's Let's do it! Cyprus campaign took place on 23-29 October, with over 6,650 litres of rubbish (mixed rubbish and PMD) collected through the clean-up with the valuable input of hundreds of volunteers.

The completion of the Organisation's Clean-up Week was the largest parallel clean-up of the Linear Park of Nicosia which is 14 kilometres long, and extends through the Municipalities of Nicosia, Strovolos and Lakatamia.

The action took place in the presence of representatives from Lidl Cyprus, as a Major Sponsor, the volunteer network Let's Do It! Cyprus, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment as well as from the Municipalities involved.

The start of the clean-up of the park took place simultaneously at 3 parallel locations: at the Municipal Gardens of Nicosia, at the Strovolos Municipality and at the Bicycle Park in Lakatamia.

During the start of the event, speeches were made by the Communications and Corporate Responsibility Manager, Georgios Dimitrolakis, the honourable Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Petros Xenophontos, honourable Mayors of the involved Municipalities, Konstantinos Yiorkatzis (Mayor of Nicosia), on behalf of Andreas Papacharalambous (Mayor of Strovolos), George Christodoulou (Municipal Secretary of Strovolos Municipality) and by Dr Fotoula Hatzipapa (Mayor of Lakatamia).

Additionally, free workshops for young and old were delivered at each stating point, while Lidl Cyprus’ popular canteen known as Vantastic, a mobile version of Lidl Food Academy, LFA On The Go, as well as Lidl kiosks, offering healthy snacks and refreshing drinks and cleaning equipment to participants were also present.
