Energy Minister meets ExxonMobil VP in Abu Dhabi

He posted on X that he had a fruitful meeting with Ardill, on their plans with partners Qatar Energy for development of the Glaucus natural gas discovery in Block 10 of Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

They also discussed possible synergies with companies in the area and their first exploration well in Block 5 by the end of 2024, the minister added.

In February 2019, ExxonMobil and Qatar Energy discovered natural gas offshore Cyprus at the Glaucus-1 well. At the time, the operator said the discovery could represent an in-place natural gas resource of about 5-8 tcf (142-227 billion cu m).

Last year the consortium finished drilling in a second well in block 10 – Glaucus 2 – and said it will analyse the data collected to help determine the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the reservoir more accurately.
