Net new loans and renegotiations decreased in August

Net new loans decreased by €71.2m in August compared to July, going from €278.2m to €207m according to data by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

New consumer loans decreased to €18.8m, from €24.1m the previous month, while new home purchase loans decreased to €77.7m, compared to €84.6 million in July.

New loans to non-financial companies for amounts up to €1m decreased to €34m from €47m, while new loans to non-financial corporations for amounts above €1m dropped to €69.8m from €133.5m.

Loan renegotiations decreased

Renegotiated loans decreased to €318.7m in August from €369.5m in July 2023.

Renegotiated consumer loans decreased to €1.5m from €2.6m; renegotiations for home purchase loans decreased to €77.2m from €97.3m; renegotiated loans to non-financial companies for amounts up to €1m increased to €34.6m, compared to €23.5m; and renegotiations for loans to non-financial companies for amounts above €1m recorded a decrease to €201.1m, compared to €237.3m.
