Cyprus Integrity Forum discusses GHS concerns with Health Minister

The Cyprus Integrity Forum (CIF) recently met with the Minister of Health Popi Kanari, with the main topic being the discussion of the Health Manifesto curated by CIF following a roundtable discussion this summer.

In an announcement following the 2 October meeting, CIF said the Minister showed a warm interest in the Manifesto which highlights the problems of management, functionality, and sustainability of the General Health System (GHS) and asked to be informed about its conclusions.

The CIF delegation analysed the main areas of concern, with particular emphasis on the urgent need to create an audit committee to enforce medical audit, a common and mandatory practice in all Western Health systems, especially in Europe, the announcement said.

CIF Chairman Marios Skandalis also presented the work and mission of the organisation, especially in the areas of Health, Education, Sports, and Media, and explained the importance CIF places on informing and educating the public to combat corruption, starting from an early age.

The Minister promised the members of the CIF Delegation that she would carefully study the conclusions of the Manifesto as grounds for further action.
