House ratifies agreement to establish WHO office in Cyprus

The House Plenum has ratified the agreement between the Government of Cyprus and the World Health Organization (WHO) to establish a WHO Office in Cyprus.

The agreement was signed by both parties in Nicosia on 27 January 2023, following a Cabinet decision a day earlier. At the plenary, 44 MPs voted in favour, while one abstained.

The agreement regulates, among other, issues related to cooperation programmes between Cyprus and WHO, including activities related to clinical trials and product development, the establishment of a WHO Office in Cyprus and other activities.

An additional agreement amending the original Grant Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and WHO, which was signed by both parties on 3 August 2023 and 31 July 2023, was also ratified.
