FM Kombos to take part in EU Foreign Affairs Council

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, is in Brussels to participate in the 13 November deliberations of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, during which he will report on the Nicosia initiative for a maritime humanitarian corridor for Gaza.

According to a Foreign Ministry press release, during the Council's work, Foreign Ministers will exchange views on the situation in the Middle East, following the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on 7 October.

"The Foreign Minister will refer to the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus to create a maritime corridor for the unimpeded and safe delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population in Gaza," the press release added.

The Council's agenda will also include the latest developments regarding Armenia and Azerbaijan, the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine and the economic security aspect of foreign policy.

After the conclusion of the Council's work, the EU-Western Balkans Ministerial Meeting will be held, which will be chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell, the Foreign Ministry press release concluded.
