Freedom Finance Europe’s yachtsmen recently took the bronze at the 2023 European Sailing Championship.
Supported and co-organised by Freedom Finance Europe, the event has become the first international sailing competition in the FAREAST 28R boat class ever held in Cyprus.
The races officially finished on Saturday, 25 November, with Freedom Sailing 2 team, representing Cyprus, taking the third place, team S for Summer, representing Romania, taking the second place, and team Happy Yachting, representing Sweden, winning the 2023 European Sailing Championship.
“As a sailor myself, I had a long-time dream to bring a major sailing championship to our home country, and today that dream has come true. It is a great honor for me and for Freedom Finance Europe to be part of hosting professional teams from all over Europe, and cherishing team spirit and true competition together in Cyprus. I want to thank the participants, partners, and guests of the European Sailing Championship for making it a truly remarkable athletic celebration,” said Evgenii Tyapkin, Executive Director of Freedom Finance Europe and captain of Freedom1 sailing team.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Nicos Nicolaides, Mayor of Limassol said, "On behalf of Limassol, I congratulate the athletes and organisers with a very successful regatta. We are proud to host the 2023 European Sailing Championship and we look forward to hosting the next year’s European, and perhaps, even the world championship, in our city".
Having opened on 20 November in Limassol, the competition featured five days of intense racing in two divisions and among 15 teams from 8 countries including Sweden, Austria, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Romania, Israel and Cyprus.
Among the championship participants are two Freedom Finance Europe teams, Freedom Sailing 1 and Freedom Sailing 2, who have repeatedly taken prizes in the Cyprus national sailing competitions.
This is the second major international sporting event that Freedom Finance Europe is organising in Cyprus this year. In May, the company supported and co organised the fourth and final round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix in Nicosia. This also comes as part of the company’s commitment to its strategy aimed at developing and promoting sport, culture, and business environment in Cyprus.
