Port GM: New Larnaca Port terminal to be ready by 2027

The new terminal at Larnaca Port, included in the first phase of expansion work, is expected to be completed in 2027, the Port’s General Manager Captain Paris Dimitriou has said.

He also said that offering better services and innovative ideas is one of the main goals of Kition Ocean Port, the managing company of the port of Larnaca, while adding that the city has many advantages to offer the cruise sector. Kition Ocean Port is a subsidiary of Kition Ocean Holdings.

"The new terminal will be connected to the coastal road that will lead to Phoinikoudes beach for the convenience of passengers visiting Larnaca," said Dimitriou, who, according to an announcement by Kition Ocean Port, presented the port and the Larnaca marina of today and tomorrow, at a conference recently organised by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism on the theme ‘Navigate through the cruise industry.’

"The conference focused on the challenges created in the emerging cruise industry and the uncertainty caused by the crisis with the war in Israel, in view of the new tourist season and given the geopolitical tensions in the wider Mediterranean region," the announcement added.

Dimitriou "developed the many advantages of Larnaca as a starting point and stop for large cruise ships and the facilities that tourists can enjoy upon their arrival. Among the facilities are the excursions and other experiences that can be had in the city and the mountainous areas Larnaca, with the cooperation of all the competent bodies," the announcement said.

At the same time, he referred extensively to the offered services of the port, the history and culture of Larnaca and noted that offering better services and innovative ideas is one of our main goals, as the administrator of the city's port. "Cruise tourism may start and end in ports, but what is of great importance is the experience of the visitor during this time," he said, according to the same announcement.

Dimitriou added that "this is exactly what we need to explore, by joining forces, to support the industry and be proactive in the challenges."

Regarding the new terminal, he said that the modern design will incorporate "sophisticated technology and innovative infrastructure to accommodate state-of-the-art cruise ships, as well as optimising operations for the smooth disembarkation and boarding of passengers."
