Cyprus hosts UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability congress

Cyprus is currently hosting the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability Annual Congress, with the participation of 55 football federations and over 150 attendants.

Addressing the event, Giorgos Koumas, Cyprus Football Association President, thanked UEFA for hosting the event, noting that real progress in football does not come from just sports competition alone.

“Economic prosperity and proper governance constitute equally important factors for the progress of the sport,” he said, adding that CFA appreciates the support provided by UEFA with a view to continue the efforts from the progress of football in our country.

On his part, Andrea Traverso, the Director of Financial Sustainability and Research at UEFA, said this year marks 20 years since the establishment of financial control and expressed satisfaction over the holding of this year’s event in Cyprus.

Nicos Nicolaou, one of the CFA Vice Presidents presented the club licensing process in Cyprus as well the mode of operation of the CFA and the contribution of football in Cyprus.
