Limassol Marina hosted inaugural European Championship 2023 Fareast 28R

The highly renowned and week-long European Championship 2023 Fareast 28R, which is the largest regatta and first ever international sailing competition for this specific yacht class held in Cyprus, took place from 19- 25 November, bringing together 15 teams from eight nations, namely Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Israel, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, and Cyprus, to race head to head.
Hosted by Limassol Marina, the prestigious event was co-organised by the Cyprus International Sailing Club (CISC) in collaboration with Freedom Finance Europe, with the support of the Municipality of Limassol.
Twelve exciting races were held over five days of sailing, with competitors battling it out in challenging weather conditions, which added an exhilarating touch to the competition.
Happy Yachting from Sweden was the winning team, with S for Summer from Romania coming in second, and Cyprus teams Bravo and Freedom Sailing 2 coming third and fourth.
“The European Championship 2023 Fareast 28R was undoubtedly a spectacular showcase of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among competing team, marking a milestone as the first ever competition of its size in Cyprus,” Limassol marina said in an article on its website. “With memorable performances from all competing teams, this event left an indelible mark on the sailing community.”
