French Ambassador visits Open University, discusses collaboration

The prospects for collaboration in the field of Higher Education between the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) and Universities in France were discussed during a meeting between Rector of the Open University of Cyprus (OUC), Professor Petros Pasiardis and Ambassador of France in Cyprus, Salina Grenet-Catalano.

According to an OUC press release, the Rector on 12 December presented the Ambassador with information regarding the strategic goals for the 2021-2024 period, as well as recent achievements of the University in the areas of education, research and innovation.

He explained also the specialisation of the Open University of Cyprus in open and distance education, and the opportunities provided by its eLearning methodology for French citizens to enroll in English taught programmes of study offered by OUC.

It is further noted that Grenet-Catalano shared her vision to pursue collaborative activities that serve and support the scientific cooperation between Cyprus and France.

She also discussed the efforts made by the Embassy to support the possibility of creating new academic synergies between OUC and French Universities in cutting edge fields, such as educational leadership, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, shipping, environmental sciences and climate emergency, etc.

The meeting at the Open University of Cyprus was attended by Eric Tosatti, Cooperation and Cultural Counsellor - Director of the French Institute of Cyprus, and Hélène Francois-Iosifides, responsible for French courses and Campus France at the French Institute of Cyprus, the press release concludes.
