The committee in Cyprus was set up to thoroughly study and monitor the progress of the implementation of GRECO's recommendations under the supervision of the Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki (pictured).

A competent source told CNA that the meeting was held in the presence of the head of the Cypriot delegation to GRECO, representatives of the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, and the Transparency Commissioner.

During the meeting, the recommendations to do with the central government and the highest executive powers were thoroughly examined.

The same source said that during the meeting it was noted that some recommendations have been implemented, some are already in the process of implementation, while others require action and coordination. The meeting aimed to come up with a plan that will be followed with the next meeting set for March 2024, for further action to be taken.

At the same time, the source said, there was an exchange of views to ensure timely and best possible compliance with these recommendations, as per the instructions of the President.
