CCCI is making its premises “green”

The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has invited businesses to follow its example and invest in green and digital transformation actions.

In a recent announcement, CCCI noted that over the past few years, the development of low energy and environmental "footprint" reducing systems has been a primary objective of existing European and national policies. At a time when the world is generating increasing volumes of data, digital technologies can enhance the energy transition, as they are intrinsically linked to two main policies of the European Commission, the digital transition of the economy and the transition to clean energy, towards achieving the goal of climate neutrality by 2050.

In the context of the efforts made to create combined initiatives of green and digital transformation at national and transnational levels, and through the pilot action of the "GoGreen - Computing Power Goes Green" project, CCCI has begun to transformation of its own premises into a Green Building. This is being achieved through the following actions: a digital upgrade with a simultaneous reduction of the building’s environmental footprint, energy consumption and CO2 emissions by installing new, less energy-intensive servers, the installation of photovoltaic panels, the installation of two electric vehicle charging stations, the installation of smart electricity consumption meters, and the use of an air quality measurement service.

The GoGreen project is co-financed by the EU’s Interreg Balkan-Med cross-border programe and CCCI is part of its corporate consortium. For more information about the project, visit https://gogreenbalkanmed.eu/ or contact CCCI officer Anna Foka on 22889747 or via email at a.foka@ccci.org.cy
