Limassol-based BSM and partners working on autonomous shipping project

Limassol-based Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) and its partners are working on a project for autonomous shipping, according to a LinkedIn post by the company.

Dubbed the B ZERO research and development project, the shipmanagement company says the aim is to use technology where it makes sense to support the crew and improve safety.

“#DidYouKnow that we are working on a project for autonomous shipping? Together with the Fraunhofer CML (Centre for Maritime Logistics and Services) and our partners Hoppe Marine GmbH, the Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency), Wärtsilä and NautilusLog, we are working on the B ZERO research and development project,” BSM explains.

“Our aim is not to develop 'ghost ships', but to use technology where it makes sense to support the crew and improve safety. There is a growing trend to digitise and automate certain procedures and operations on board. We believe that more and more customers will demand such solutions in the future.”
