What it’s like to work at Amdocs

Nicoletta Tillyrou, EMEA Talent Acquisition Manager at Amdocs, explains how the company sees investment in its employees as the key to successful transformation and development.

What makes us stand out is our people! We focus a lot of their development by providing benefits that will help them grow and have good work-life balance,” says Nicoletta Tillyrou, EMEA Talent Acquisition Manager at Amdocs, with evident pride. “Taking care of our employees and their wellbeing is our number one priority,” she goes on. “We have established a strong benefit scheme that offers private medical insurance, in-house dining, a pension scheme, unlimited vacation, and an Amdocs staff discount scheme. We also provide parental leave, gifts for holidays, personal occasions and milestones. Because we believe in the development of our people, we enable them to explore internal mobility opportunities and gain experience in different roles within Amdocs. They can also access lots of complimentary learning and upskilling programmes to stay on top of what’s new in their particular field.”

Amdocs, is a leading software services provider to the world’s most successful communications and media companies. “As our customers reinvent themselves, we enable their digital and network transformation through innovative solutions, delivery expertise and intelligent operations,” Tillyrou explains. Amdocs Cyprus was established in September 1997, and has more than 1,000 employees of 33 nationalities at its offices in Limassol.

Is it possible for a multinational company to keep track of its talent and help its employees to move up the ranks? Surprisingly, Tillyrou makes it sound easy: “Although we have built a strong employer brand in the market to attract external candidates, internal mobility has become the optimal win-win for employees and organisations alike. Companies now understand that many challenging positions can be filled internally. An employee’s progress within the company, using their knowledge and experience, can be crucial. As a multinational company with offices in more than 85 countries, we provide relocation opportunities, internal progression, and an in-house career coaching centre to help them to develop the right skills to advance in their career.”

In today’s high-tech era, it is essential that employees see innovation and modernisation as an opportunity rather than a threat and feel secure that they have a place in their company’s future. It appears that Amdocs Cyprus has achieved this, having recently been named as Best Place to Work in Cyprus for the second consecutive year. “What makes Amdocs so special is the unique combination of serious technology and the fun of innovation,” Nicoletta Tillyrou tells GOLD. “The wellbeing of our people is directly related to satisfaction with their job, their manager, their team and the company as a whole. We carry out yearly evaluations of our people and we have three-month check-ins to set goals and ensure that employees have the opportunity to raise any concerns and discuss their future targets with their managers.”

Amdocs has a strong Talent Acquisition team that works on attracting candidates and providing information about the company’s values and mission. “Research shows that successful onboarding dramatically increases the retention of new joiners,” Tillyrou explains. “The faster new hires feel welcome and prepared for their jobs, the faster they will contribute successfully to their team. Every new joiner is accompanied by an Amdocs ‘buddy’ who helps them settle in smoothly.” Amdocs aims to fill its ranks with people who know their potential and are ready to call the shots, equipped with knowledge and a sense of belonging. “We have online programmes to support new joiners and our new Amdocs U learning experience takes onboarding to the next level, with more than 85 curricula containing 3,500 learning items. Each manager and team lead, a content expert, a mentor and a ‘buddy’ are the new recruit’s partners on this journey that makes the experience of joining Amdocs simple, efficient and… amazing!”

Championing diversity and equality, Amdocs has created a unique corporate culture, that makes it stand out from other industry leaders. “From an ESG standpoint we’re considered leaders in our sector and we have been included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for 2023,” Tillyrou says, before noting: “We received recognition as a Great Place to Work in 2022 and 2023 and last year we were named 9th Best Workplace in Europe. Our recruitment programmes have been expanded to provide opportunities to students to gain experience via summer internships and every year we hire more than 100 students from local universities through our graduate schemes.”
