Toyota was the most popular car brand in Cyprus in Q1

There was a massive surge in saloon car registrations in March as well as the first quarter of the year, with Cystat figures showing they had risen by 83% and 29.5% respectively, and the most popular car brand – in both new and used cars – was Toyota.

Of the total saloon cars registered in the first quarter of 2023, 48.5% were new and 51.5% were used (click here for full figures).

The number of registrations of saloon cars in the first quarter of 2023 totalled 7,049. The most popular car brand was Toyota, with 1,338 registrations, followed by Mazda (772) and Nissan (628). BMW came fourth with 532 registrations, followed by Mercedes with 442. Completing the top-10 list are Kia (352), Volkswagen (338), Hyundai (258), Mini (243) and Suzuki (196).

In terms of new saloon cars, Toyota was again the most popular brand with 460 registrations, followed by KIA with 326, BMW with 312, Volkswagen (262), Hyundai (241), Mini (222), Mercedes (151), Skoda (149), Renault (147) and Audi (144).

As for second-hand cars, there were 3,611 registrations in total in January-March. Toyota was again in the lead, with 878 registrations, followed by Mazda (735), Nissan (506), Mercedes (291), BMW (220), Honda (156), Suzuki (150), Volkswagen (76) and Land Rover (75).
