Hope for Children reconfirms local contacts ahead of International Child Helpline Day

Ahead of International Child Helpline Day marked on 17 May every year, ‘Hope For Children’ CRC Policy Center, a humanitarian organisation that provides a range of services to support children and defend their rights, has reconfirmed its own helplines available from Cyprus.

The Hope For Children Helpline can be called on 1466. The helpline is open 24/7 and offers psychological, social, and legal support, advice, and guidance on child protection issues free of charge to all children and families in Cyprus.

The European Helpline for Children and Adolescents can be called on 116 111. The line is available Monday to Friday from noon to 8pm, and on Saturdays from 9:30am until 2pm. In Cyprus, the European Helpline is operated by HFC and the Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO). The line provides young people with a safe space to talk about their concerns and worries.

The European Hotline for Missing Children can be called on 116 000: The helpline operates 24/7, 365 days a year, with the aim of preventing and managing cases of missing children and providing access to support services for their families. The line is operated by HFC and SPAVO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Cyprus Police.

Hope For Children is also a member of the Child Helpline International (CHI), a global federation of 166 members from 139 countries and territories worldwide. CHI coordinates information, knowledge, and data to support child protection systems globally, regionally, and nationally, and helps its members advocate for the rights of children and amplify their voices. The organisation is also a member of the Missing Children Europe Federation.
