Justice Minister discusses training of judges with EJTN Secretary General

Minister of Justice and Public Order, Anna Koukkides-Procopiou discussed issues concerning the training of judges and justice in general at a recent meeting with the Secretary General of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN), Ingrid Derveaux, in the presence of the Director of Judicial Training School in Cyprus, George Erotokritou.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Justice, Derveaux informed the Minister about the functioning of the European Judicial Training Network, its programmes and the exchange of knowledge and experience that it offers, as the largest training body for judges in Europe, which promotes cooperation between judicial schools. It is also noted that she asked for the Minister's support to the Network in the framework of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council, in which the Minister participates.

Koukkides-Procopiou confirmed her support for the Network, the statement added, and stressed the importance of training programmes for judges, especially in specialised areas such as cyber-attacks, terrorism and financial crime.

She also underlined the importance of the operation of the Judicial Training School in Cyprus and expressed her gratitude for the assistance and support provided by the European Judicial Training Network.

The meeting also saw participants discussing the holding of the General Assembly of the European Judicial Training Network in Cyprus, in the context of the assumption of the Presidency of the European Union by the Republic of Cyprus in the first half of 2026, that statement concludes.
