Cartier, Hublot, Zenith and Damiani: The luxury boutiques opening at CoD

Evagoras Charalambous, General Manager at Vassos Eliades Accessories, talks about the four luxury stores that will be opening at City of Dreams Mediterranean, the rise of watch boutiques and a new brand reveal set to take place in the next few months.

You have announced that you will be opening four luxury stores within the City of Dreams Mediterranean casino resort. You have so far announced Hublot, Zenith and Damiani. Could you tell us what the fourth will be? When will you be announcing the news?

Actually we are extremely happy and honoured to announce that the fourth Luxury Boutique which will be operated by our company in the City of Dreams will be Cartier.

How do you expect these new shops to shape Cyprus’ jewellery industry?

The watch making industry is clearly moving towards the Boutique regime. We are truly proud and honoured to create the first ones in Cyprus with the brands we represent. Slowly, but surely more watch boutiques will be created in the future.

What made these brands want to open a new store now in Cyprus?

Definitely, the idea of creating boutiques within the Casino Resort, within such a high end environment, paid an instrumental part in the decision making of the brands. It is quite difficult to explain, yet I am sure, that when first visiting the City of Dreams you will understand the immense quality the Resort has to offer.

Have you observed any specific trends among Cypriot consumers, do they prefer specific brands and styles?

The Cypriot consumer, like in every other country, follows two types of tendencies when purchasing a high watchmaking timepiece. You have those who follow fashion, what’s “hot” that follows todays’ trends. Then you have the collectors. Collectors are actually multi-segmented. There is the type that follows only a specific brand, while there are others, who collect a certain type of movement, etc.

Does the company have any new exciting projects coming up?

Yes of course! Soon we will be able to introduce a new brand, which will be able to complement our portfolio to the upmost. The relative press announcement of this brand will occur, even as soon as the next couple of months.
