“Beyond the Melodies: Interactive Technologies for the Promotion of Musician’s Health”

Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation is hosting the first scientific concert "Beyond the Melodies" on Wednesday 7 June. The event, the first of its kind in Cyprus, opens a window towards music interaction.

The uniqueness and fundamental principle of the scientific concert lie in the combination of live music performance and augmented reality, aiming to create an engaging and educational experience for the audience. Motion and muscular activity data from the musicians will be collected and analysed in real time, while oral explanations will contribute to their understanding.

During the concert, the musician's digital twin will be projected on a large screen, alongside a simultaneous presentation of the musculoskeletal parameters the musician experiences during the live performance.

The audience will enjoy a captivating live music performance while, through innovative interactive technologies, will gain a better understanding of the physical challenges that professional musicians undergo.

The scientific concert is organised within the framework of the TONE project (the project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 1010287155). On stage:

Dr Christos I. Ioannou (Coordinator)

Christos Ioannou is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow and the head of the Neo-Move research team at the CYENS Centre of Excellence. His research interests focus, among other things, on work-related musculoskeletal and psychosomatic disorders.

Nikos Pittas (Violin)

Nikos Pittas is a principal member of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. After a multi-year career in America and Europe as a soloist and member of world-class orchestras, he has been awarded numerous international awards. He stands out for his dedication and passion for classical music.

Nikolas Melis (Piano)

Nikolas Melis has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various countries abroad. He has received several international awards and is endorsed by several renowned keyboard and effect pedal manufacturers such as Sequential and Clavia Nord.
