Cyprus-based investor Alexey Gubarev, who will be turning the site of Sodap's wine factory in Limassol into the IT Quarter “city within a city,” has expressed his excitement at being part of the project.
The co-founder and board member of Palta.com purchased the site for €32 million and plans to turn it into a public space on which various objects intended for education, creativity, and cultural pastime will be located. Luxury-sea view apartments and commercial areas such as retail and offices are also planned.
Commenting on his personal LinkedIn page, Gubarev has revealed more about his decision, saying, “I am attracted to old iconic flagship buildings as these are a heritage to our generation. I am attracted to their unique character and the fascinating stories they bring along.”

He continued, “This is one of the main reasons behind my recent purchase of old Sodap, that used to house a wine factory, which I intend to rebuild through IT Quarter into a dynamic city within the city and where people can live, create, work, engage in self-development.”
And, as revealed by Gubarev in his post, “The architectural concept will include multiple-story modern buildings, museums, galleries, sports facilities, public squares, and parks, among other things. A major attraction will be the giant pedestrian-only public square that will reach the shoreline! I am excited to lead and be part of this unique project.”
