International investment community in Cyprus in October to explore Investment Funds

The heart of the international investment community will be beating in Cyprus this coming October as the country hosts two major events related to the rapidly growing Mutual Funds sector.

Already attracting intense interest from overseas investors are the 36th International Investment Funds Association (IIFA) Conference and the 9th International Funds Summit and EXPO .

The IIFA Conference is attended annually by representatives from the largest Investment Fund Associations worldwide and is considered one of the sector’s leading international forums.

IIFA is the international association for Investment Funds and has members from 40 countries including USA, Canada, India, Japan, Korea and EU member states.

Cyprus has been represented at IIFA since 2019 through the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA). In fact, the organization of the annual conference in Cyprus was made possible after intense and targeted efforts by CIFA which succeeded in securing the vote of the majority of IIFA members.

IIFA members' assets under management are estimated to exceed $70 trillion. IIFA has a decisive contribution to the communication of the critical issues that concern Investment Funds internationally, as it brings together those involved in the sector for discussion and the exchange of views on matters of common interest, and the views it expresses are considered to be of significant importance.

The proceedings to organize the Conference, which is only for IIFA members, have been underway for months, and already interest in attending is strong, both in terms of participants, speakers, and official guests.

Some of the confirmed speakers for this year's Conference are:

Verena Ross Chair-European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA),

Chris Cummings - Chief Executive Officer, The Investment Association,

Marie E. Dzanis - Head of Asset Management, EMEA, CEO, NTGIL,

Gema Esteban Garrido - Global Head of ESG, IG4Capital,

Judy Goldring - President and Head of Global Distribution, AGF Management Limited,

Reda Hilali - President ASFIM, Pat Lardner - Chief Executive, Irish Funds,

Ryan McNelley - Managing Director, Portfolio Valuation, Kroll Advisory Ltd,

Małgorzata Rusewicz - President of the Management Board, Chamber of Fund and Asset Managers, Chamber of Pension Funds.

In the same period, meanwhile, the 9th International Funds Summit and EXPO will take place, which has become the leading meeting of executives from investment organizations from the wider geographical area with more than 500 delegates annually.

The fact that the two events this year will take place almost on the same days, is a first-class opportunity for Cyprus to highlight its advantages as a destination for Investment Funds and managers.

At the same time, Cyprus will be promoted as an investment as well as a tourist destination for people participating in decision-making centers abroad.
