Oroklini’s Palm Beach Hotel to be renovated and gain residential tower

The Palm Beach Hotel & Bungalows hotel complex in Oroklini, Larnaca is about to undergo a facelift with planned upgrades including two new residential buildings and a restaurant.

According to a relevant Department of Environment report, the conversions to the existing unit owned by Pillar Enterprises Ltd, in the community of Oroklini, have been approved under conditions.

In brief, the project includes the construction of new accommodation, the upgrading of existing units, and the construction of new higher-quality catering and entertainment units. The proposed project will be developed within the boundaries of the existing unit, which is located on private land.

Nine-story tower and four-story block

More specifically, and as stated in the environmental report, additional conversions are expected to be made in six areas of the project which include:

Area 1: Conversion of the existing 40 bungalows, the large swimming pool, and common areas into 25 independent bungalows with a private pool, demolition of the cafeteria and construction of a wellness center (spa).

Area 2: Construction of an outdoor, themed restaurant in the hotel gardens.

Area 3: Demolition of part of the northern wing of the hotel for the construction of the Residence Tower building with a basement, ground floor, and nine floors, which will have 56 apartments.

Area 4: Conversion – an extension of the existing restaurant and renovation of external areas.

Area 5: Construction of a four-floor building Condominium block, with 28 apartments (condos) and with an indoor swimming pool in the basement. It is emphasised that the existing building in which the indoor swimming pool and squash court now operate will be demolished.

Area 6: Excavation and construction of a new, underground car park with 216 spaces, within the boundaries of the existing site and the current tennis courts, which will be reconstructed. In total, the parking spaces will amount to 345, of which 12 will be for use by people with disabilities.

It is noted that there is no historical or archaeological monument in the immediate surroundings of the project, while the nearest Natura 2000 area, Oroklini Kaje, is 1.3km to the west of the boundaries of the project plots.

The study area of ​​the project does not fall within the migratory routes of migratory birds and according to the Environmental Department’s report, the additions are located outside the beach protection zone.
