The Cyprus Maritime Academy and Intercollege offering 20 scholarships

The Cyprus Maritime Academy and Intercollege are offering 20 full (100%) scholarships for the Academic year 2023/24 against the tuition fees of the 'Bachelor's Degree in Nautical Science' programme.

The 'Cadet Scholarship Programme' has been designed for prospective cadet-students who wish to pursue a career at sea as deck officers. It is a joint effort of the shipping industry, the Cyprus Maritime Academy, and Intercollege, with the aim of making the profession of Merchant Marine officer more widely accepted and accessible, as well as an important career choice for the young men and women who will constitute the next generation of the Cypriot and International Shipping industry.

Speaking at a recent event about the offering, on behalf of Intercollege and the Academy, were the Executive Director Nicholas Kythreotis and the Academic Director Kyriakos Patsalides while Prabhat Jha, Group Managing Director and CEO of MSC Shipmanagement, Loukas Hamatsos, CEO of Olympia Ocean Carriers, and Dr. Loukas Barbaris, President of the Board of Directors of Safebulkers, spoke on behalf of the shipping industry.

All speakers emphasised the stellar career possibilities provided by the maritime industry, which, when combined with the scholarship programme enabling studies at the Cyprus Maritime Academy without tuition fees, constitutes a unique opportunity for ambitious student-cadets seeking a future at sea with a global perspective.

Also present at the press conference were members of the academic community from the University of Nicosia, shipping industry partners of the Cyprus Maritime Academy, representatives of maritime-related companies and organisations, and journalists.
