Cyprus participating in youth-focused E-Social Project

One hundred youth participants from Cyprus, Italy, Netherlands, Greece and Belgium, including youth organisations are working together on the E-Social Project.

With funding by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme, the E-Social Project targets young people to create awareness in social entrepreneurship and covers a set of trainings and dissemination activities.

Focus groups and surveys conducted in each partner country were recently carried out to formulating the results of the 24-month project. These involved 20 participants per country and more specifically 10 young people and 10 youth organisations through questionnaires and/or focus groups. The organisation which is participating as the partner from Cyprus is Magnetar Ltd.

Fully entitled ‘E-playing in Social Entrepreneurship,’ the project aims to develop pedagogical techniques in social entrepreneurship through gamification, oriented to youth. The project aims to create innovative training materials in game-based social entrepreneurship education and deliver serious video games which help youngsters engage in learning the essentials of social entrepreneurship, by playing and interacting digitally with their peers.

The games will be of of scalable difficulty and free of charge, as part of a digital platform that will be created during the project.

According to a relevant announcement, the expected results of the project are, the development of the entrepreneurial skills of youngsters, the creation of innovative digital tools for education in social entrepreneurship, the empowerment of youngsters to start their own business, and the support the decrease of unemployment in European States.

A kick-off meeting in Lucera, Italy in February focused on the ongoing activities and design of the project tasks implementation. This was the first face to face meeting of the partners and apart from getting to know each other, they provided several ideas and suggestion for the ongoing and next steps.

Since then. every consortium country, Cyprus, Italy, Netherlands, Greece and Belgium has developed a Focus group, to attest the country's situation in the field of young entrepreneurship, in particular in social entrepreneurship.

The next steps including a second Transnational Meeting in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, the finalization of the training resources, the uploading of training material on the E-Social website, the finalization of the E-Social interactive game, and the announcement and promotion of the piloting of the interactive game.
