Online conference: TACKLE racism in football

UEFA Foundation, the Charity Foundation of UEFA, is hosting a significant conference on Racism in Football on Friday, 23 June at 11am, that will delve into the necessary steps and actions needed to address and root it out of the game.
The Conference, which will be streamed online from UEFA’s Headquarters in Nyon, is organised as part of the workings of the TACKLE Project and will feature high-profile speakers, including Clarence Zeedorf - a legend of the sport.
Football fans and people interested in the issue will have the opportunity to hear the experiences and views of the Dutch former player with a prestigious career in European giants like Ajax, Real Madrid, Inter and AC Milan. Furthermore, Olivier Dioglia, UEFA’s Senior Expert in Youth Development and Emilio Hernandez, will present the approaches and actions being promoted in football academies to safeguard the inclusion and respect of all players. As part of the workings of the Conference, CARDET’s Executive Director, Dr Charalambos Vrasidas, will present the work and resources developed through the TACKLE project to educate and train coaches of grassroots football clubs on the issue of racism and discrimination.

TACKLE Project, implemented in Cyprus by CARDET and the Institute of Development with the support of the Erasmus+ programme, seeks to educate and empower coaches and professionals in grassroots football to act as agents against racism and discrimination. The project has developed and made available a full suite of learning resources and tools to help elevate their understanding of the field as well as their capacity to contribute to identifying, preventing and dealing with incidents of racism, xenophobia and discrimination in their teams.
