Government tête-à-tête with foreign investors

A very important meeting is taking place at the Presidential Palace today, proving the government’s commitment to encouraging more foreign companies to move their headquarters to Cyprus, but also to ensuring it understands the needs of those that are already here.

The government, led by President Nikos Christodoulides, and Invest Cyprus, with the coordination of IMH, have organised a round-table discussion – entitled Foreign Investors Roundtable with the President and Government of Cyprus – with the owners and CEOs of over 20 foreign companies that have invested in Cyprus, by either setting up office or moving their headquarters here. The aim is to share ideas and views on how to further boost the local economy and business environment.

On behalf of the government, the meeting will be joined by the President, the ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Energy, Commerce and Industry, Labour and Social Insurance, the deputy ministers of Shipping, Research and Innovation, the government spokesman and the undersecretary to the President.

Invest Cyprus will be participating with CEO Marios Tanousis and Board member Angela Panayiotou.

Foreign investors and companies from all the vital sectors of the economy will be in attendance, including ICT, financial services, real estate, services, tourism, hospitality, education, shipping and retail trade.

They will be joining the government’s cabinet of ministers and deputy ministers and other key stakeholders, in the discussion that will be closed off to the media.

The investors are expected to be asked about their views on the local business environment, how they believe the country can become an even bigger international business hub, and what they think can be done to improve things further.

The discussion will be coordinated by the CEO of IMH, George Michael.
