Hadjizacharias: Digital transformation for all and a leading position for Cyprus

"Our goal is for Cyprus to lead the region in terms of the provision of services," asserted the Deputy Minister of Innovation, Research and Digital Policy, Philippos Hadjizacharias, reconfirming the State's vision for "digital transformation for all."

In a greeting read on his behalf by the Deputy Ministry’s Director of the Department of Information Technology Services (DITS) Andriana Achilleos at the 2nd CITEA Digital Cyprus Conference 2023 on 22 June, reference was made to the foundations laid by the State through a sustainability model so that the country can be digitally transformed and become a services sector leader.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) aim to embrace the existing important sectors of the economy and every business activity and help Cyprus become a regional center for the provision of services by attracting investment.

Also mentioned in the address was the fact that the ‘Tax For All’ platform has already begun operating, facilitating citizens and businesses to a great extent. There has also been progress regarding electronic signatures and the online submission of other applications that were previously only done with the physical presence of citizens at department offices.

The services that have been completed are many and it is anticipated that there will soon be updates for others that are in the works, according to the Deputy Ministry.

The issue of connectivity and network speed was also mentioned which, Hadjizacharias said in his address, "have significant benefits for households and businesses".

Our message as a State is "digital transformation for everyone", finally stated Achilleos on behalf of the Deputy Minister, to emphasise the importance of the cooperation of the private sector with the public sector.
