FANEROMENI23 Art Festival to showcase 'Colours of the Soul'

The FANEROMENI23 Arts Festival continues its programme of events at the courtyard of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation on Thursday, 29 June with the 'Colours of the Soul' concert by the music group of Cypriot singer Chrysanthi Schiza.

In the "performing arts", Cypriot poems and songs represent testimonies of the traditional, folk and scholarly culture of our island. The combination of this intangible heritage with contemporary musical sounds is aimed at promoting and perpetuating the culture and traditions, a Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation (BoCCF) announcement on the event notes.

Songs in the Cypriot tradition used to tell stories and events, which were narrated at festivals and fairs, a tradition that is nowadays almost extinct. The songs that will be performed at the concert will tell the listeners about feelings and experiences, about the inner concerns of a modern man. Through these songs, the composers and the performers will give the audience a taste of the 'Colours of the Soul.'

The musical performance will mainly include a live performance of the original compositions by Chrysanthi Schiza from her first personal album 'Truths,' with lyrics by modern Cypriot lyricists and by herself. The audience will also have the opportunity to listen to Cypriot traditional songs in original arrangements and to recitations of traditional poems.

Chrysanthi Schiza: voice, compositions, and idea conception

Kyriakos Kosta: art direction and piano

Alexandros Komodromos: electric guitar

Elena Erotokritou: bass

Christos Erotokritou: drums
