CyRIC sets sail on world’s first net zero greenhouse gas emissions ship
12:00 - 27 June 2023
The Cyprus Research and Innovation Centre (CyRIC), a pioneering company at the forefront of sustainable solutions, participated in the inaugural journey of MSC Euribia, the world’s first net zero greenhouse gas emissions ship, in early June.
Departing from Saint-Nazaire, France and bound for Amsterdam, this historic voyage marked a significant milestone in the global effort towards a greener future.
The Arch, a renowned initiative committed to driving the ecological shift in the economic landscape, handpicked 100 concrete solutions from 18 countries that exemplify the potential for positive change. On board the MSc Euribia, these innovative solutions were showcased, highlighting their contributions to sustainable development.
Panayiotis Philimis, Founder and CEO of CyRIC, represented the European Business and Innovation Network (EBN), a partner of The Arch initiative at the welcoming event on board MSC Euribia. EBN’s mission aligns perfectly with The Arch’s objective to promote the ecological transition, making this collaboration instrumental in fostering a sustainable future.
During this transformative journey, ecorbio, a promising startup from Gravity incubator, had the honour of being selected to present its groundbreaking solution. Disrupting the polyol market, ecorbio offers biopolyol with a near-zero carbon footprint at a significantly lower cost. This innovation has the potential to revolutionise the industry by providing a sustainable alternative that reduces environmental impact without compromising on quality or affordability.
