L’Étape Cyprus by Tour de France organisers welcome start of Tour de France

Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), which is also organising the upcoming L’Étape Cyprus by Tour de France has welcomed July as Tour de France month, as the international cycling event, due to start on the first of the month.

Begining on 1 July in Bilbao, Basque Country, this year's Tour de France will finish on 23 July on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. This will be the 110th Tour, which has been held since 1903, interrupted only during the two World Wars.

ASO is also the organiser of the L’Étape by Tour de France series, which is the largest Sportive event in the world, i.e. for amateur and semi-professional athletes and in which Cyprus in a part of, with the L’Étape Cyprus by Tour de France. The 2023 event will be held on 12 November, with the start and finish in Aphrodite Hills in Paphos.

In the 29 L'Étape du Tour races around the world, participants have the opportunity to feel like cyclists racing in the Tour de France, due to the fact that they are held under the strict standards of the Tour de France, with a strong emphasis on all levels, such as safety, escort cars, and of course the legendary yellow jersey. The Cypriot race, organised by Mokapot Productions, will feature two simultaneous one-day races, "The Race", 136 km long with a 3,000 metre ascend, and "The Ride", 62 km long with a 1,300 metre ascend.

L'Étape Cyprus by Tour de France 2023 is supported by the deputy Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus, Cyta, Cyprus Airways, KEO's Natural Mineral Water Agios Nikolaos, and the American University of Beirut - Mediterraneo in Paphos.

An important fact is an opportunity given to the top three men and women of each L'Étape to participate in the one-day L'Étape du Tour race, held every year during the Tour de France, in an official stage of the race, during the professionals' rest day. For 2023, the 31st L'Étape du Tour will be held on 9 July, on the same route as stage 14 of the Tour de France, (152 km long, with 4,100 m of ascend), between the villages of Annemasse and Morzine, near the Swiss border.
