Nicosia-born Demetrios Zoppos, entrepreneur and investor for 25 years in the startup sector, with a long-term focus on the utilisation of technology, is based in London and active around the world. He studied economics at the University of Cambridge and public administration at the Harvard Kennedy School.

The startups he has worked with during his career - mostly at their early stages - have raised over $130 million in investment capital from private, institutional and strategic investors.

His experience allows him to handle the full life cycle of innovative companies. Introducing the product or service and adapting it to the market, increasing its scale of operation, exporting the model to new countries, raising capital and selling to new investors.

In recent years, he himself has invested in more than 20 startups, including Cypriot ones, such as Plum and Stagedoor, but also in the investment funds of Greek companies - among others - that promote technology, such as Marathon Ventures.

He is also the co-founder of the luxury home rental brand, onefinestay, which was acquired by the Accor group, the aviation trading platform, GF-X, which is now owned by the Descartes group, and Klevio, which operates in the digital access sector.

Now, he is setting up 33East, an investment fund for Cyprus, with the aim of providing funding for start-ups in our country, thereby contributing to wider economic development.

The 15th IN Business Awards were presented by the European University of Cyprus.
