Energy Minister to hold discussions on energy and investment issues in London

Energy, Commerce, and Industry Minister, George Papanastasiou, will have contacts and discussions on issues related to energy and investments in London on 8 and 9 June.

According to an official press release, the Minister travels on Thursday to the British capital for a two-day working visit, during which he will have, in the afternoon, separate meetings with senior officials of BP and ExxonMobil oil companies.

Moreover, on 9 June he will participate in the Economist annual "The Cyprus Investment Summit", as well as to a round table discussion on "How to Improve Cyprus Offering and Competitiveness," organised by the Cypriot High Commission in London, Invest Cyprus and 'Cypriots in the City' association.

On the morning of 9 June, the Minister will address the Economist Summit, where he will have the opportunity to present developments related to the hydrocarbons sector and the government's efforts for the transportation of natural as to Cyprus.

In the afternoon he will attend a round table discussion on Cyprus' competitiveness, presenting the main policies promoted by the state, as the continuous development of the Strategy for attracting investments and talented people to the country, as well as the Business Facilitation Unit operating at the Energy Ministry, which was also recently appointed by the Council of Ministers as One-Stop-Shop for licensing renewable energy sources projects.

During his stay in London, the Energy Minister will also meet with a delegation of the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK and the President of the UK-Cyprus Business Council, Peter Droushiotis.
