House President to pay an official visit to Ireland

House President Annita Demetriou departs on 11 June for Dublin for an official visit, at the invitation of her Irish counterpart Seán Ó Fearghaíl.

According to an official press release, the President of the House will be received by the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins and the Prime Minister of the country Leo Varadkar and will hold separate meetings with Irish House Speaker Seán Ó Fearghaíl, who will also host a dinner in her honor together with President of the Senate Jerry Buttimer.

Annita Demetriou will address the Plenary Session of the Senate and will attend part of the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives. The Cypriot House President will also have a meeting with Minister of State at the Department of Justice James Browne, as well as a joint meeting with the Chair of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense Charlie Flanagan and the Chair of the Joint Committee on European Affairs of the Irish Parliament Colm Brophy and Members of the two Committees.

As part of her visit, Demetriou will also visit Trinity College, where she will have a meeting with the Vice-President of International Cooperation, Associate Professor Dr Emma Stokes, the Glencree Center for Peace and Reconciliation and places of social, historical and cultural interest in County Kildare, including Teach Tearmainn Battered Women's Refuge.
