Alexandru Ursu: User data's role in the marketing sector 'war'

Alexandru Ursu, Marketing Cloud-Regional Account Manager, Salesforce, spoke about marketing trends and what strategies can be followed at the recent 20th Marketing, Advertising, and Communication Conference.

"What is being asked of us more and more is that we have to deliver more quality. At the same time, customers have new demands," he said, among other things, and added that "we have to know what the customer wants and adapt to it."

He spoke of a "war" in the marketing sector regarding user data, between companies and advertisers. "We have to understand that marketing is something that is done on many levels. Online, offline everywhere. We have to find a way to bring all this together," he stressed.

"Everyone is talking about digital transformation. But they don't know what they mean" he commented, to indicate that "this is something that must change".

He also emphasised that marketeers need to focus on how they collect data and how they use it in the advertising industry. "That's what most people think about today, how to create a campaign and what medium to put it in," he pointed out.

And he sent the message "garbage delivered at the speed of light is still garbage."

Organised by IMH, the 20th Marketing, Advertising and Communication Conference took place in Nicosia on 30 June. The event is sponsored by ImarComms, NetU, Red Wolf, and Webarts.
