Philippos Soseilos: “This is part of the new Cyprus. Cyprus is changing”

PwC Cyprus CEO Philippos Soseilos said Cyprus was changing and pivoting to new revenue streams as part of a sustainable economic model, as he addressed the 11th Invest Cyprus International Investment Awards in Nicosia.

Soseilos warmly welcomed the guests to “this prestigious ceremony, where we gather every year to celebrate and recognise the remarkable achievements of the international investors of Cyprus”.

PwC Cyprus, he said, has been supporting these awards for 10 consecutive years, demonstrating the great importance that it places on the role that foreign investments play “in infusing capital into key sectors of our economy, introducing innovation, enhancing our entrepreneurial and start-up ecosystem, and strengthening the competitive advantage of our country as a regional technology and business hub”.
Soseilos did not omit to hail the role of the evening’s host, Invest Cyprus, for its overall contribution to attracting foreign investments.

“At PwC, we passionately support Vision 2035: For Cyprus to be one of the world’s best countries to live, work and do business in… which fundamentally means for Cyprus to also be one of the best countries to invest in,” he said. “So, I warmly thank all the international investors here tonight for your trust in the Cyprus economy, for seeing the potential and for believing in Cyprus’ vision for growth and transformation.”

It was their visionary thinking and “bold auctioning” that were being celebrated, Soseilos added; “which is an inspiration for all of us. An inspiration to act transformationally with greater determination and speed”.

Whoever is still conservative and sceptical about the resilience and prospects of the Cyprus economy, should just stand up and look around, he said. “Look at the diverse country of origin of our investors. This is part of the new Cyprus. Cyprus is changing. Cyprus is pivoting to new revenue streams as part of a sustainable economic model. And all of us here, from the private sector, the public sector, all stakeholders, have a responsibility to act as a united ecosystem for the good of the economy and the good of our society.”

Meanwhile, PwC Cyprus Foundation, the organisation’s not-for-profit charitable organisation, provided a symbolic gift to attendees, from the Sophia Foundation for Children, actively supporting their mission for improving children’s lives. “For the support of society, every little contribution counts,” said Soseilos.

The 11th Invest Cyprus International Investment Awards, organised by GOLD magazine and Invest Cyprus, are sponsored by Platinum Sponsor PwC Cyprus, and Gold Sponsors Eurobank Cyprus and ECOMMBX.
