Met office issues two extreme high temperature warnings

The Meteorological Department has issued two extreme high temperature warnings that will be valid until 1800 on Wednesday, 16 August.

The first, with an orange awareness level, said from 1200 until 1800 on Wednesday, the maximum temperature over the highest mountainous areas is expected to rise to around 35C Celsius.

A second, yellow awareness level warning has been valid from 2100 Tuesday (15 August) until 1800 on Wednesday with the minimum temperature over the highest mountainous areas not expected to fall below 24C while the maximum temperature over inland areas is expected to rise around 40C.
