August bookings reach approximately 95%, Hotels Association says

President of Cyprus Hotels Association (PASYXE) Thanos Michalides has told CNA that the current tourist period is on a good track, however the season must be over before the situation can be fully assessed.

He noted that during August bookings will reach approximately 95%.

Furthermore, he said that an MoU that is underway with Arab countries will have positive results, not only due to the fact that tourists will be attracted, but also because Cyprus will serve as a stopover for Europeans who work in these countries.

Michaelides said that the British market may remain the most important one but it is also important not to neglect new markets.

Moreover, he noted that a tourist destination such as Cyprus must have a variety of small and big five, four and three star hotels, that will provide high-level services. Michaelides also said he is in favour of large investments, such as marinas and casinos.
