Approval given for new K. Kytherotis factory to be built in Limassol

The Environmental Authority has given its approval for the construction and operation of the new K. Kythreotis Holdings Public Ltd factory in the industrial area of ​​Ypsonas, Limassol.

The proposed project concerns the construction and operation of a ready-mix concrete production plant, the total production capacity of which will be 150 m3/h. According to the submitted Environmental Study, the project aims to enrich the services/facilities provided to the construction sector of the entire Limassol district in terms of the supply of ready-mixed concrete.

Construction work is expected to start with the issuance of all the necessary permits and last approximately 18 months, with their estimated cost amounting to approximately €700,000.

What will it include?

Specifically, the factory will include

  • A ready-mix concrete factory
  • A fresh concrete recycling unit
  • A weighing Station
  • Offices and Laboratories
  • A garage
  • Warehouses
  • A place for depositing aggregates such as sand
  • A petroleum storage tank
  • A silo
  • Green spaces (3624 sq.m. which is located northwest of the block)
  • Parking Spaces – 30 (total) of which 20 will be for heavy vehicles and 10 for small cars including the cars of the factory workers.

Where is it located?

The proposed project is located in the industrial area of ​​the Municipality of Ypsonas.

The Kourris Dam is located approximately 1.2 km west of the development plots and the Limnati River is located approximately 2 km west.

The Environmental Authority's position

As part of the evaluation of the project, the Environmental Authority requested the views of the Game and Fauna Service due to their specialised knowledge of the specific project or its potential effects on the environment.

The Game and Fauna Service, in a letter dated 13 July 2023, stated that it has no objection to the project.

The Environmental Authority, when formulating its position, took into account the information submitted and the opinions of the competent departments and has no objection to the construction of the project, under specific terms and conditions.
