Beautification and reconstruction work in Trikoupi Street, in the centre of Nicosia, is underway.

The Municipality of Nicosia has published photos showing the progress of the works, revealing how some buildings have been undergoing the restoration and beautification of their facades. A total of 52 buildings will be beautified to highlight their significant architectural value.

While the work is still ongoing, the change, in the facades of a number of the buildings is already evident.

Trikoupi Street is changing
Trikoupi Street is anticipated to change radically as part of the overall ‘Redevelopment of the Creative Business District Area’ project, which is part of the wider planning of the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy and the Area Plan for the Centre of Nicosia.

The project aims to upgrade the urban environment and address traffic problems, including facilitating the movement of people with disabilities, with the aim of attracting and establishing new creative activities in the city centre.

The technical works are aimed at the overall remodeling of the area defined by the facades of the buildings, consisting of public and private roads, as well as public and private pavements.

It should be recalled that at the beginning of 2023, contracts were signed between the Municipality of Nicosia and the A.M. Andronikou Ltd & Tasos Chatzittofi Ergoliptiki Ltd consortium for the redevelopment of the district for creative enterprises, the maintenance/rehabilitation of facades and the redevelopment of roads as well as the undergrounding of public utility networks. The value of the contract amounts to €3,878,627 plus VAT, while construction works are expected to be completed in 16 months.
