Henley Passport Index: Cypriots have visa-free access to 180 countries (list)

The Cypriot passport has found itself in a higher position in the Henley Passport Index world ranking compared to previous years, now offering free access, without a visa, to 180 countries, which makes it among the most powerful passports in the world.
More specifically, according to the Henley Passport Index, the Cyprus passport rose to 12th place. From 2019 to 2022 it was in 15th place, while in 2019 it was in 14th place.
The following graph illustrates the course of the Cypriot passport from 2006 until 2023:
It is worth noting that in 12th place, together with the Cyprus passport, is also that of Liechtenstein, ahead of the passports of countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Croatia, Monaco and Hong Kong.
On the other hand, the Cypriot passport is right behind Malaysia, Iceland and Estonia.
The most powerful passports and the ones last in the ranking
The most powerful passport in the world, according to Henley & Partners' index, is Singaporean, with free access to 193 countries.
The second place is occupied by Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and Sweden with free access to 190 countries.
In third place are Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, with free access to 189 countries.
The last country in the ranking is Afghanistan (free access to 27 countries), behind Iraq (free access to 29 countries) and Syria (free access to 30 countries).

What is the Henley Passport Index?
The Henley Passport Index is the initial ranking of all passports worldwide, according to the number of destinations holders can visit without a prior visa.
The ranking is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world's largest and most accurate travel information database, and is supported by ongoing research by Henley & Partners' Research Department.
