M&S: ‘Back to School is for everyone’

Marks & Spencer (M&S) stores, in line with their environmental and social values, have the equal rights of all children to make a fresh start for the new school year at the centre of their social priorities.

With the slogan “Back that School is for everyone” and with the cooperation of the Pan Cyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council, M&S stores throughout Cyprus are collecting used school clothes from 22 August to 17 September, to be distributed to children in need. The action simultaneously supports a relevant Council campaign, a releavent press release notes.

According to the press release, through this action, M&S hopes to provide some help and support to children from vulnerable families and enable them to have equal opportunities in education. For this reason, the good condition of the school clothing that will be collected is considered important, so that the results of this effort are more substantial and beneficial. The collection is only for school wear and includes shorts, long pants, skirts, shirts, t- shirts, overalls, and knitwear. Shoes, socks, and stationery are not being collected.

The press release also underlined that it was important to emphasise that this action by M&S is part of a wider plan called Plan A, which responds to the environmental, social, and ethical challenges it faces as an organisation that respects the environment and the societies in which it operates at all levels of its operation. Specifically, this plan includes actions for the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials and technologies, recycling, and, in general, the promotion of the broader concept of the circular economy, thus contributing, in practice, to the sustainable support of the societies in which it operates.

M&S therefore invites all sensitised citizens to hand in their used school clothes, at the specially designed collection located in M&S stores, namely the ones situated at:

Nicosia: Mall of Cyprus, Nicosia Mall, Acropolis, Makarios Avenue, Latsia, Lakatamia, and Alphamega Engomi.

Larnaca: Metropolis Mall, General Timaya Avenue.

Limassol: MYMALL Limassol and Nikiforos Grigoras Street.

Paralimni: Griva Digeni Avenue.

Paphos: Kings Avenue Mall
