12:45 - 21 September 2023
President Nikos Christodoulides met with a delegation from US investment fund CVC Capital Partners during his visit to the USA to participate in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
CVC Capital Partners is already active in Cyprus in the health sector, owning two of the country's largest private hospitals, the Apollonion and Aretaeio, in Nicosia.
The meeting with CVC Capital Partners was part of the priority set by President Christodoulides to attract quality American investments to Cyprus on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting with CVC Capital Partners Advisory the company's experience in relation to its recent investments in Cyprus in the health sector was discussed, as well as possible future investments in the health, infrastructure and education sectors.
CVC Capital Partners is one of the largest private equity investment organisations worldwide, with a presence on three continents and 23 countries, and also with significant expertise in the hospital industry, especially in southern European countries.
CVC Capital Partners’ private equity platform manages $97 billion in assets and includes four strategies: Europe/Americas, Asia, Strategic Opportunities, and Growth Partners, each of which benefits from CVC's global platform.
CVC Capital Partners operates in Greece through the private healthcare group Hellenic Healthcare Group (HHG), under whose umbrella a number of private hospitals (Hygeia, Metropolitan Hospital, Mitera, Metropolitan General, Leto, Creta InterClinic in Crete, City Clinic in Kalamata) operate, as well as a network of primary healthcare services (HealthSpot and Alpha Lab).
The fund's entry into the Cypriot health services market came around the end of December 2021, when HHG announced the completion of the acquisition of the Apollonion by its Cypriot subsidiary company "Hellenic Healthcare Holding (Cyprus) Limited".
In December 2022, HHG, which, as mentioned above, using investment funds from CVC Capital Partners, announced the completion of the acquisition of the Aretaeio as well.
