Cyprus Justice Minister meets with International Narcotics Control Board

Minister of Justice and Public Order, Anna Koukkides-Prokopiou met recently with a delegation from the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), which is the competent judicial monitoring body for the implementation of the United Nations international drug control conventions.

A statement sent to the press on 22 September,  says that during the meeting the two sides discussed issues related to trafficking and use of narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as the exercise of effective international control.

The Justice Minister informed the officials of INCB about the measures taken at a preventive level regarding the illegal use and trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as the initiatives and actions taken by Cyprus at an international and European level.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Cyprus National Addictions Authority, Dr. Christos Minas, the Deputy Commander of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit Stelios Sergides, and Officials from the Ministry who are dealing with Human Rights related issues.
